SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced on Thursday 263 additional cases of COVID-19. According to the State Department of Health, the most recent cases are:
- 92 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 1 new case in the municipality of Chaves
- 10 new cases in Cibola County
- 2 new cases in Curry County
- 40 new cases in Doña Ana County
- 10 new cases in Eddy County
- 5 new cases in Grant County
- 6 new cases in Lea County
- 1 new case in Los Alamos County
- 1 new case in Luna County
- 13 new cases in Otero County
- 2 new cases in the municipality of Rio Arriba
- 21 new cases in Sandoval County
- 4 new cases in San Juan County
- 7 new cases in San Miguel County
- 14 new cases in Santa Fe County
- 1 new case in Taos County
- 1 new case in Torrance County
- 23 new cases in Valencia County
- 1 new case among inmates from the New Mexico Department of Corrections at the New Mexico Correctional Center in Valencia County
- 1 new case among New Mexico Department of Corrections inmates at Lea County Correctional Center
- 7 new cases among inmates from the New Mexico Department of Corrections at the Southern New Mexico Correctional Center in Doña Ana County
The Department of Health reported on Thursday five additional deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19:
- A woman in her 60s in Bernalillo County. The individual was a resident of the South Valley Care Center in Albuquerque.
- Woman in her 70s from the county of Chaves. The individual had underlying conditions.
- A second woman in her 70s in the municipality of Chaves. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying diseases.
- A woman in her 40s in San Juan County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying diseases.
- A man in his 60s in Santa Fe County. The individual was hospitalized.
The death toll of New Mexico residents related to COVID-19 is now 3,877.

Daily case counts and test numbers are raw data based on the information the state receives today – that is, data that has not yet been examined to identify possible duplicates or late positive or negative results. In contrast, the county level analysis of Red Yellow Green provides a highly accurate image for a period of two weeks.
Previously reported figures included nine cases identified as duplicates (seven in Bernalillo County, two in San Juan County); two cases that have not been confirmed by the laboratory (one in the county of Doña Ana, one in the county of Santa Fé); and one in Santa Fe County who was determined to be an out-of-state resident – these have now been corrected. Including the new cases reported above, New Mexico now has a total of 189,158 COVID-19 cases:

As of today, there are 138 people hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19. This number may include individuals tested positive for COVID-19 outside the state, but are currently hospitalized in New Mexico. This figure does not include new Mexicans who tested positive for COVID-19 and may have been transferred to an out-of-state hospital.
To date, there are 169,889 COVID-19 cases designated as having been recovered by the New Mexico Department of Health.

The Department of Health has detected spread across the community in the state of New Mexico and is investigating cases with no known exposure. The agency reports that, given the infectious nature of the virus, other residents are likely to be infected, but have not yet been tested or confirmed as positive. For this purpose, all new Mexicans have been instructed to stay at home, except for tours absolutely necessary for health, safety and well-being. These additional restrictions have been enacted to aggressively minimize person-to-person contact and ensure that spread is mitigated. New Mexicans are strongly encouraged to limit travel to only what is necessary for health, safety and well-being.
The New Mexico Department of Health has active investigations into positive patients, which include contact tracking and smears from symptomatic individuals who have had contact with positive cases.
Every New Mexican must work together to contain the spread of COVID-19. Stay at home, especially if you are sick. Wear a face mask or cover when in public and around other people.
New Mexicans reporting symptoms of COVID-19 infection, such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, repeated tremors with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea and / or loss of taste or smell should contact the doctor or the NMDOH COVID-19 hotline immediately (1-855-600-3453).
The Department of Health strongly encourages the following groups to take the test:
- Symptomatic people who have the symptoms of COVID-19 of fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, repeated tremors with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea and / or loss taste or smell;
- Asymptomatic people who are close contacts or members of the family of people in their infectious period who have already tested positive for the coronavirus;
- Asymptomatic people who live or work in congregated environments, such as long-term institutions and collective homes;
- Patients with scheduled surgery and whose provider advised them to get tested before the procedure.
