SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced on Thursday 235 additional cases of COVID-19. According to the State Department of Health, the most recent cases are:
- 94 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 5 new cases in the municipality of Chaves
- 7 new cases in Curry County
- 28 new cases in Doña Ana County
- 8 new cases in Eddy County
- 1 new case in Grant County
- 2 new cases in Guadalupe County
- 1 new case in Lea County
- 3 new cases in Lincoln County
- 6 new cases in Luna County
- 7 new cases in McKinley County
- 6 new cases in Otero County
- 4 new cases in the municipality of Rio Arriba
- 26 new cases in Sandoval County
- 7 new cases in San Juan County
- 10 new cases in Santa Fe County
- 2 new cases in Socorro County
- 2 new cases in Taos County
- 1 new case in Torrance County
- 14 new cases in Valencia County
- 1 new case among New Mexico Department of Corrections inmates at Lea County Correctional Center
The Department of Health reported on Thursday seven additional deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19:
- A woman in her 70s in Bernalillo County. The individual resided on the premises of the Muros de Salvación in Albuquerque.
- A man in his 80s in Bernalillo County. The individual had underlying conditions.
- A man in his 70s from McKinley County. The individual had underlying conditions.
- Woman in her 50s in the municipality of Rio Arriba. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying diseases.
- A man in his 70s in Sandoval County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying diseases.
- A man in his 50s in San Juan County. The individual was hospitalized.
- A man in his 60s in Valencia County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying diseases.
The death toll of New Mexico residents related to COVID-19 is now 3,916.

Daily case counts and test numbers are raw data based on the information the state receives today – that is, data that has not yet been examined to identify possible duplicates or positive or negative results of late arrival. Previously reported figures included eighteen cases that were identified as duplicates (nine in Bernalillo County, two in Doña Ana County, six in Otero County, one in Sierra County); and one in Lea County who was determined to be an out-of-state resident – these have now been fixed. Including the new cases reported above, New Mexico now has a total of 190,491 COVID-19 cases:

To date, there are 173,020 cases of COVID-19 designated as having been recovered by the New Mexico Department of Health.

The Department of Health has detected spread across the community in the state of New Mexico and is investigating cases without known exposure. The agency reports that, given the infectious nature of the virus, other residents are likely to be infected, but have not yet been tested or confirmed as positive. For this purpose, all new Mexicans have been instructed to stay at home, except for tours absolutely necessary for health, safety and well-being. These additional restrictions have been enacted to aggressively minimize person-to-person contact and ensure that spread is mitigated. New Mexicans are strongly encouraged to limit travel to only what is necessary for health, safety and well-being.
The New Mexico Department of Health has active investigations into positive patients, including contact tracking and smears from symptomatic individuals who have had contact with positive cases.
Every New Mexican must work together to contain the spread of COVID-19. Stay at home, especially if you are sick. Wear a face mask or cover when in public and around other people.
New Mexicans reporting symptoms of COVID-19 infection, such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, repeated tremors with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea and / or loss of taste or smell should call the doctor or the NMDOH COVID-19 hotline immediately (1-855-600-3453).
The Department of Health strongly encourages the following groups to take the test:
- Symptomatic people who have the symptoms of COVID-19 of fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, repeated tremors with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea and / or loss taste or smell;
- Asymptomatic people who are close contacts or family members of people in their infectious period who have already tested positive for the coronavirus;
- Asymptomatic people who live or work in congregated environments, such as long-term institutions and collective homes;
- Patients with scheduled surgery and whose provider advised them to get tested before the procedure.
