New leak of Red Dead Redemption 2 may contain GTA 6 Clue

One new Red Dead Redemption 2 leak can offer a great clue in the configuration of GTA 6, the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series that Rockstar Games has not yet announced, but is believed to be in development for PS5, Xbox Series X and possibly PC as well. In the GTA forums, a dataminer revealed some interesting bits of code that they recently discovered while combing through the files. Red Dead Redemption 2. More specifically, they found files for several different weapons that are just not in Red Dead Redemption 2, but they are not even appropriate for the open-world western era, set mostly in 1899. At first glance, you would assume that these are remaining archives of GTA 5, and it can be the case, but it can also be for GTA 6and reveal when the game can be defined.

In the GTA forums, the user and dataminer “DerekLeet” noticed that there are several weapons files that did not exist in 1899, but are also not modern weapons, apparently ruling them out for GTA 5 and GTA Online.

The first of these weapons is the Browning Pistol, while the second is the L1AL Rifle. AK47 was also discovered in the archives of Red Dead Redemption 2, but unlike the other two, this could very well be remaining files from GTA 5. That said, the AK47 has a different name in the GTA 5 files than here on Red Dead Redemption 2 archives, which casts doubt on whether they are remnants of the 2013 game.

However, there is an obstacle: these files have been in the game since launch. Of course, that begs the question: why would Rockstar Games be using Red Dead Redemption 2 before launch to test weapons for GTA 6?

Unfortunately, at this moment, this new leak, as it is, creates more questions than it answers. That said, given that all of the weapons mentioned were all used during the 1900s, especially during the second half of the century, this could reinforce rumors, reports and leaks claiming GTA 6 takes place in the 1980s, Vice City.

At the time of publication, Rockstar Games did not comment on this leak in any way, and it is highly unlikely that this will change. However, if that happens, we will be sure to update the story with what is provided. In the meantime, taking everything with a big grain of salt.
