New large-scale community vaccination site to launch in Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced that a new large-scale vaccination site will be launched this week in Rochester.

Walz said the permanent location will be the third in the state, following the launch of locations in Minneapolis and Duluth last week.

The Rochester vaccination is scheduled to serve about 1,500 Minnesota residents aged 65 and over in the first week.

“We are building a reliable network of options for Minnesota residents to have access to the vaccine,” said Walz in a press release. “Today, we are expanding this network in southern Minnesota to give more Minnesota residents access to the photos they live in, so that we can destroy COVID-19 and get back to business as usual.”

According to the press release, more than 220,000 Minnesota residents age 65 and older have registered for the state’s vaccine registry. Those who have not yet been selected will remain on the list and will have the opportunity to schedule appointments at community vaccination posts. Find more vaccine resources here.

“We still need more supply, but we have to be ready when the federal government accelerates to meet demand,” said Walz. “Just as Minnesota leads in testing, we also lead in community vaccination. We will be ready to continue expanding access until all Minnesotans have the opportunity to receive the vaccine, regardless of where they live ”.
