A 3-year-old girl died in New Jersey after “accidentally” falling into a septic tank at a camp, police said.

The Lower Township Police Department said it discovered the child at the Sun Outdoors Campground in Erma, near Cape May, on Saturday night, after calling 911 for medical assistance.

“Upon arrival, the police found a 3-year-old girl who was not responding, who was removed from a sewer septic tank after accidentally falling,” the department said in a statement.
