New hypercar-inspired Prime 2.0 skins arrive at VALORANT tomorrow, including Phantom and Karambit melee

VALORANT’s First-rate skins are some of the tactical sniper’s cleanest cosmetics. And tomorrow, we’ll have more.

Riot unveiled Prime 2.0 skins today, bringing modern aesthetics back to a number of other weapons. The package, which will be available for purchase at the store tomorrow, includes Phantom, Frenzy, Bucky, Odin and a Karambit-style melee. And if the Prime 1.0 line was a luxury sports car, the new series has evolved into a “hypercar,” according to senior weapons artist Chris Stone.

“We were inspired by many hypercar designs that you would see at the Geneva Motor Show,” said Stone. “Specifically, the exhaust ports and FX interaction on the side of the weapons were inspired by the car exhaust backfire in high-tech cars.”

When designing Prime 2.0, developers wanted it to be “more aggressive” than its predecessor. Then, they added more “angular shapes” and “emissive elements” that go from the front to the back of the weapon, Stone said.

To differentiate Prime 2.0 from 1.0, Riot left out the purple accents that are its trademark. Instead, the new cosmetics are draped in shades of white, black and gold. And the animation of the howling wolf finisher is replaced by a bull that throws its target in the air before it explodes.

Buying the entire package, players will have 7,100 HP, playing a gamer card, a spray and two companions for weapons for free. For individual purchases, you will have to pay 1,775 VP for weapon and 3,550 VP for melee.

This is not the first time that Riot has added an existing one VALORANT skin line. Glitchpop 2.0 launched last month, bringing the cyber theme back to a number of popular weapons like Operator, Vandal and Phantom. The package also included an ax, unlike typical hand-to-hand combat with a knife.

Although Riot is not against making skins for existing skin lines, there are none planned now.

“We are still gathering feedback from players before we decide to commit to making more skins for an existing line of skins,” said art leader Sean Marino.
