Guilty Gear Strive is the next main entry in Arc System Works’ groundbreaking fighting game series, and continues with the fusion of the franchise of stylish anime-style visuals and heavy metal action. Before the next beta of the fighting game starting later this month on February 17th, GameSpot has a new exclusive gameplay showing some high-level matches with Sol Badguy, Ky Kiske and Axl Low. In these fights, we also take a look at each character’s particular super movement, which is based heavily on their fighting style and personality.
The first match features Axl Low fighting the shadow-manipulating hunter, Zato-1. In this match, Axl uses his chained blades to keep his opponent at bay, and when Zato-1 is vulnerable, Axl releases his special One Vision attack (Entry – 214214 + HS) It is a movement that temporarily freezes your opponent in time, allowing you to attack him. This special move can also be canceled, allowing you to disengage the ability and surprise your enemies with other attacks soon after.
In the next match, we will see Ky Kiske take on one of Strive’s newest fighters named Nagoriyuki. Although Ky Kiske was one of the heroic characters in the series, he has a darker side to Guilty Gear Strive. Your new special move in this game is Dragon Install (Input – 214214 + HSwhen in poor health). Similar to Sol Badguy’s ability, Dragon Install will amplify Ky Kiske’s attacks. After activation, it will cause a shock wave that can hit your enemy.
Finally, we have the anti-hero of the series, Sol Badguy, facing Zato-1. As in previous games, the Sun is a power that can move with great speed. He is able to close the distance quickly and cause a lot of damage, and that is what his newest super move in Guilty Gear Strive is about. When you activate Heavy Mob Cemetery (Entrance – 214214 + HS), the fighter will transform into a hybrid form of human dragon that can cause massive damage to enemies. This move is great for closing off hitting enemies who like to focus on avoidance tactics and, given their speed at activation, can surprise enemies quickly.
With the beta version starting this month, we have a lot more to see from Arc System Works’ latest fighting game. More about Guilty Gear Strive, be sure to stick with GameSpot when more details arrive.
