Life on a sitcom is not as good as we thought.
Yet another new WandaVision trailer was released with even more new footage from next season’s episodes 1. The trailer for the new episode follows in the footsteps of the premiere of episode 4, “We Interrupt This Program”, which offered a backstory on the events leading up to the premiere of first season, “Filmed Before a Live Studio Audience”. Episode 4 focused on Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) returned from “The Blip” and explained how it got sucked into the universe WandaVision sitcom. We also saw how the SWORD observation base came together, like Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) and Agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) got involved, and we received some Easter egg teasing for other MCU projects.
The new promotional trailer released on Saturday is titled “Triumph”, but it is not clear who exactly is triumphing. Packed in the 30-second teaser are tons of photos that trigger the main plot developments, including Vision’s attempt to escape the sitcom’s pocket universe, Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) begging for someone to help her and the rest of WandaVision supporting characters, and perhaps most interesting of all, Wanda and Vision facing off. It seems that finding happily ever after in a sitcom world with perfect images is not in the letters of Wanda and Vision, as the interference of the ongoing investigation of SWORD causes the in-universe WandaVision TV program with serious failures. These interferences seem to alert Vision of his previous feelings that something is wrong. At one point in the “Triunfo” promotion, we heard Wanda try to maintain control by offering, “There is no need to be dramatic”, before we saw the Vision question the nature of reality by asking the wife, “Did you really not see what I saw? ”
But perhaps the biggest provocation in “Triumph” is that in which Wanda and Vision prepare to fight in their living room. A brief photo shows the two halves of this superhero couple levitating in the air, ready for battle. It is a moment that recalls the time when they were on opposite sides during Captain America Civil War – a crucial moment in their then-emerging relationship. However, the truth behind the couple’s existence in this strange sitcom world (which has not yet been revealed, by the way) has the potential to be even more divisive than the Sokovia Agreements. As such, it is possible that if Wanda and Vision end up fighting in a future episode of WandaVision, the damage can be much more lasting for their relationship.
A new episode of WandaVision will debut on Friday, February 5 at Disney +. Check out the promotional trailer for “Triumph” below. For more information, here’s our explanation of why WandaVision is paying homage to classic comedies.
