excuse me for Matt Ryan (and Keanu Reeves, I think), but there is a new arrogant bisexual magic investigator in town.

Deadline reports that J.J. Abrams ‘ Bad Robot will launch a new adaptation of DC Comics adored supernatural character John Constantine for HBO Max. The series will be produced by Bad Robot alongside Warnermedia as part of the production house ongoing business with HBO Max, which is already bringing us Stephen King’s Brillant-inspired Neglect, it is a Justice League of Darkness Show.

There is no word on whether or not Constantine will be tied to Justice League of Darkness, but it would be more surprising at this point if was not. All we know now is that Guy Bolton was chosen to write the series and, in addition, Matt Ryan – who played John Constantine on NBC’s adaptation canceled in 2015 before reviving the role at CW’s Arrow and eventually Legends of Tomorrow, as well as several DC Animated films – will not play the role. Instead, a “diverse leadership” will head the series, which will be reshaping Constantine as a young Londoner.

We’ll bring you more details about HBO Max’s plans for Constantine as we learn them.
