New COVID-19 dial structure in Colorado means more flexible restrictions starting this weekend

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KKTV) – Colorado Governor Jared Polis announced that the state is putting a new COVID-19 dial on the site on Saturday at 9 am

According to the state company, the biggest change will be in the levels of incidence and the new dial will allow municipalities to move between levels of public health restriction more quickly.

With the new selector, El Paso and Teller County will move to the Yellow level and Pueblo County will be on the Blue level on Saturday morning.

The dial will use seven-day metrics instead of 14-day metrics and will account for the spread of the virus, percentage of positivity and hospitalizations. Some of the color-based indicators will have different levels of capacity. For example, “yellow”, which previously meant that companies would limit capacity to 100 people, can now have up to 50% or 150 people, depending on the internal space.

For El Paso County businesses under yellow restrictions:

-Restaurants – capacity for 50 percent or 50 people for indoor dining. The external seats must be 1.80 m between the external parts, according to the local zoning

– Personal services – 50% of capacity or 50 people

– Gyms / Fitness – 50 percent capacity or 50 people

For five star businesses in El Paso County under yellow restrictions:

-By the state, counties on the Yellow Level with a 5 Star Business Program can only operate on the Blue Level since 70% of 70 year olds across the state are vaccinated with at least one dose. State states that the forecast is that this will happen by the end of the month

-More information about the 5-star program can be found by visiting the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC website
