Amid a sharp drop in new coronavirus cases across the country, New Jersey did its best to keep up this week.
For the week of February 4-10, New Jersey added 25.5 new cases for every 10,000 residents. This is an 8.7% drop from the previous week.
However, it pales in comparison to the national drop in cases this week. The US added 22.2 cases per 10,000 residents, a 33.6% decline from January 28 to February. 3 weeks.

Of 21 New Jersey counties, 17 fell from last week, a week in which all 21 fell.

Salem County recorded the biggest drop this week, a 29.5% decline. Only two others – Camden County and Warren County – fell more than 20%. Seven more counties decreased by more than 10%.
Among those where cases increased, Cape May County had the biggest jump, 19% over the previous week. The other three counties that experienced an increase – Atlantic, Bergen and Somerset – all increased by less than 3%.
In terms of total new cases, Ocean County took the lead this week, with 37.5 new cases per 10,000 residents. They joined Monmouth and Atlantic between counties that added 30 or more cases per 10,000.
At the bottom end, Salem added just 15.5 cases per 10,000 people. After just one county added less than 20 cases per 10,000 last week, there were five this week.
