New cases of COVID-19 in South Carolina drop to less than 700, 50 additional deaths confirmed

On Wednesday, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control reported fewer than 700 new cases of COVID-19.

Wednesday’s figures show 655 new confirmed cases in the state, 237 probable cases and 50 confirmed deaths and 12 probable deaths.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 429,494, probable cases to 62,875, confirmed deaths to 7,248 and probable deaths to 869.

South Carolina is seeing a 9.1% positivity rate, according to DHEC.

Locally, Wednesday’s figures reflect 19 new confirmed cases and 5 probable cases in Beaufort County, 0 confirmed cases in Hampton County and 2 confirmed cases in Jasper County.

They also include the death on February 10 of an elderly patient from Beaufort County.
