Apple may have announced a new set of over-ear AirPods at the end of last year, but the original in-ear icons haven’t seen an update since 2019. But two new leaks suggest that the AirPods Pro may be next in line for a update – with some big surprises in store.
An Apple leaker shared a photo on Twitter (below) intending to show the inner workings of not one, but two different models of AirPods Pro, suggesting that the next headphones may be available in several editions. Can we have more than one new entry on our list of best wireless headphones?

Twitter User Mr. White suggests that the new AirPods Pro may come in two different sizes and that both will have the same W2 chip found in the current AirPods Pro.
It is not clear why users can benefit from the new AirPods Pro, which comes in two sizes – the interchangeable rubber tips can usually correct any adjustment problems. It seems more likely, therefore, that any size difference can be designed to accommodate extra features. Perhaps we could see the supposed ‘sports’ edition without a stem along with a more traditional design with more features?
And maybe one of those features is the ability to control AirPods Pro with your teeth (yes, you read that right). A second leak, shared by Patently Apple, reveals that Apple has registered a patent for headphones that “enters through the body” – meaning they can detect actions like touching your face and snapping your teeth. What time to be alive, huh?
Of course, as with all Apple patents, only time will tell whether entry through the body will become a reality. As with any new technology, there will undoubtedly be a lot of initial problems to solve (sorry). In the meantime, check out today’s best AirPods deals below and take a look at our summary of Apple’s best selling offers in January.
