Nevada casinos began easing capacity restrictions on Monday, while the country continues to increase coronavirus vaccination efforts.
The internal capacity limit for gaming floors, as well as food and beverage outlets has jumped from 25% to 35%, according to Nevada’s “Roadmap to Recovery” reopening plan.

However, “high-risk” businesses and activities – such as adult entertainment establishments, nightclubs and day clubs – will remain closed until at least May 1, according to Governor Steve Sisolak.
Last week, Sisolak announced that the state would be reversing some restrictions related to the coronavirus, including limiting the number of people inside the casinos. The announcement was made at a time when the state continues to increase its vaccination efforts “through an efficient and equitable approach,” said the governor.
The move could help attract more visitors from outside the state – the lifeblood of Nevada’s crisis economy – to come and spend money in Las Vegas.
“As we continue to navigate this pandemic and increase our vaccination efforts, this plan will focus on how we can continue to mitigate the spread while bringing Nevadans back to work, protecting and restoring our economy, and taking our students back to learning. face-to-face, “Sisolak said.
In May, the governor expects to direct all mitigation management efforts to local governments. However, “specific state protocols will remain in place to mitigate the spread, including, but not limited to, the mask’s mandate and other requirements of social detachment,” tweeted Sisolak.

Nevada’s tourism and hospitality industry has an estimated economic impact of $ 67.6 billion, employing more workers and generating more state tax revenue than any other sector.
However, in November a report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicated that the state had the highest unemployment rate, around 11.5%, among the country’s major metropolitan regions.
In December, Nevada faced an unemployment rate of 9.2%, according to the labor agency.
