Netflix won more than half of the 2,021 Golden Globe television awards

Netflix emerged victorious on Sunday night, after winning more than half of the year’s Golden Globe in television categories.

The streaming giant, which still leads its competition in number of subscribers, won six of the 11 Golden Globes for television shows, dominating the drama categories thanks to “The Crown” and the limited series, anthologies or films made for the category television with “Gambito da Rainha.”

At the end of the night, “The Crown” won a total of four awards – one for best television series – drama, while the other three went to actors Emma Corrin, Josh O’Connor and Gillian Anderson.

“The Queen’s Gambit”, Netflix’s highly successful miniseries, won the top award in its category, as well as for star Anya Taylor-Joy.

It is hardly surprising, however, as the streamer received 20 glaring nominations in the television categories alone – meaning they were competing with each other for various awards.

Corrin was one of five nominated actresses in her category, which included three other Netflix names: Olivia Colman (“The Crown”), Sarah Paulson (“Ratched”) and Laura Linney (“Ozark”). The fifth and final nomination was for Jodie Comer, from the BBC’s “Killing Eve” program.

“The Crown”, “Ratched” and “Ozark” also received additional nominations that were defeated by other Netflix stars.

Likewise, both “The Queen’s Gambit” and star Taylor-Joy, 24, defeated Netflix’s ownership “Unorthodox” in both winning categories.
