Netflix trailer for ‘Shadow and Bone’ and release date: WATCH

Gird up your loins, the new teaser for this YA costume is in parts terrifying and … kinda hot? Following the traditions of Hunger Games and Divergent which came before him, the new Netflix original, based on the Grishaverse novels by Leigh Bardugo, focuses on a tough heroine and the eye candy she has to deal with on her way to revolution. Meet soldier and orphan Alina Starkov, who unleashes an incredible superpower that can help her liberate her people. Alina, played by Jessie Mei Li, is removed from her home and sent to train with an elite army of magical soldiers named Grisha, who are battling the monstrous Shadowfold. “To destroy it, we need a miracle,” says a deceptively charming voice. The trailer gives fans the first glimpse of Archie Renaux as Malyen Oretsev, Freddy Carter as Kaz Brekker, Amita Suman as Inej, Kit Young as Jesper Fahey and Ben Barnes as General Kirigan. The teaser trailer was revealed during Friday’s IGN Fan Fest on a panel with Bardugo, who is also the executive producer, showrunner Eric Heisserer and the stars of the show. Shadow and Bone premieres on Netflix on April 23, 2021.
