Nintendo removed the Netflix video app designed for Wii U and 3DS from both eShops.
As of December 31, 2020, it can no longer be downloaded by new users. However, it is still possible for existing users to re-download applications at this point.
The service for Wii U and 3DS will be discontinued later this year, on June 30, 2021. Here is the full message from Nintendo on its website:
“As of December 31st, 2020, the Netflix app will no longer be available for new users to download from the Nintendo eShop on the Wii U console or on the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. During this time, it will be possible for existing users to download these applications again. The service for existing users will continue until June 30º, 2021. Thanks to everyone who has liked Netflix on these platforms over the years. “
So does that mean Netflix is on its way to the Switch? Unfortunately, there has been no mention of this since former Nintendo of America president Reggie made reference to him in 2019. Follow all of this in our Netflix guide.
