Netflix developing the sequel to ‘We Can Be Heroes’ with Robert Rodriguez

Rodriguez – who wrote, directed and produced We Can Heroes – will return to the sequence.

The sequel was announced along with Netflix’s audience numbers at the holiday season. According to the streamer, which relies on just two minutes of viewing by a subscriber, the Christmas week of 2020 – from December 25 to December 31 – was the longest service ever recorded in the same week, year after year year, as measured by both total watch hours and average watch hours per subscriber in each period.

Contributing to the growth in its number of annual views at the holiday season is Netflix’s jump in subscriptions to 2020. In the first three financial quarters of 2020, the streamer added about 28 million subscribers.

According to the streamer, 44 million families saw We can be heroes the first 28 days of the film in service. (By comparison, Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods attracted 27 million over a similar period of time.)
