Netflix and MGM rush to produce projects about the GameStop saga

LOS ANGELES – The ending hasn’t been written yet, but Hollywood is moving quickly to bring the story of the GameStop investment saga to the screen.

Separate projects at Netflix Inc. NFLX,
+ 2.63%
and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. are already in development last week on Wall Street, in which a group focused on investments in a Reddit message board has teamed up to boost stock prices for struggling companies like GameStop Corp. GME,
-42.23%
and AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. AMC,
-38.53%,
in the process, paralyzing the hedge funds that had bet against them.

Second for a person familiar with the subject.

At MGM, executives are planning to develop a Ben Mezrich manuscript on the saga entitled “The Antisocial Network”. The studio changed so quickly that it acquired the rights to the proposed Mezrich book, which is being bought by publishers this month, according to a person familiar with the deal.
