Nestlé Prepared Foods recalls Pepperoni Hot Pockets not ready to eat product due to possible foreign body contamination

WASHINGTON, January 15, 2021– Nestlé Prepared Foods, MT. The Sterling, Ky. Facility is collecting approximately 762,615 pounds of ready-to-eat pepperoni pepperoni products (NRTE) that may be contaminated with foreign materials, specifically pieces of glass and rigid plastic, the Department of Food Safety of the Department of US Agriculture and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

The product NRTE hot pockets of frozen pepperoni was produced from November 13, 2020 to November 16, 2020. The product has a shelf life of 14 months. The following product is subject to recall: [View Labels (PDF Only)]:

  • Packs of 54 oz carton containing 12 “SANDWICHES MARK Nestlé HOT POCKETS: PREMIUM PEPPERONI MADE WITH PORK, CHICKEN AND BEEF PIZZA GARLIC buttery CRUST” with the date “BEST BEFORE FEBRUARY 2022” and lot codes 0318544624, 031953215444, 0314644614, 0314544614, 03195321544, 0314644614 and 0314644614.

The product subject to recall has the establishment number “EST. 7721A ”within the USDA inspection mark. The product was shipped to retail locations across the country.

The problem was discovered when the company received four complaints from consumers about foreign materials in the hot pocket pepperoni product.

The company received a report of a mild oral injury associated with the consumption of this product. FSIS has not received any additional reports of injuries or illnesses resulting from the consumption of this product. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare professional.

FSIS is concerned that some products are frozen and in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased this product are advised not to consume it. This product must be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify that recall companies notify their customers of the recall and whether steps are taken to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers.
