Necromunda: Hired Gun is a first-person shooter set in the beloved Warhammer 40,000 universe

Necromunda: hired gunman, a first-person shooter set in the world of Warhammer 40,000, appears to have leaked on Microsoft’s online store. Developed by the same team behind Space Hulk: Deathwing, the game puts players in the role of mercenaries who hunt criminals and mutants in the cruel streets of the Empire’s most famous hive world. The list mentions that it will be available for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles.

Launched as a miniature table game in 1995, the Necromunda universe focuses on the violent battles between working-class gangs in a huge industrial city in the 41st millennium. The game pits small forces – usually about six miniatures – against each other on a highly three-dimensional board. Your universe is known for its bloody violence, but also for its sense of humor.

The franchise was restarted in 2017 with a new boxed miniature game titled Necromunda: Underhive, which was followed by several boxed sets, miniature kits and hardcover rule books. It was also the subject of two recent video games: Necromunda: Underhive Wars, a tactical strategy game for PC and consoles, and Necromunda: Gang Skirmish, a free mobile game.

Necromunda: hired gunman is the first title to allow players to experience this franchise from a first-person perspective. Players will take on the role of a lone mercenary aided by a partially robotic dog called a cyber-mastiff. They will be able to update their character with customizable increases, allowing them to also “run on the walls and jump over chasms” according to the official description.

The images show the player’s character fighting alongside Eschers, a female faction that uses chemical stimulants to hone his combat skills. They are also seen using live grenades made from mice, a specialty of the Cawdor gangster faction. Enemies include muscular Goliaths and Orlocks of the Iron House. There is also an Ambot, a powerful robot used for excavations.

According to the description, players will also have access to a hook that will allow “agile crossing of massive environments”.

Although the franchise itself has not always been a home run in video games (Necromunda: Underhive Wars in particular, poorly analyzed when it was released), the studio behind this game has an excellent track record; Was responsible for the excellent multiplayer cooperative sniper Space Hulk: Deathwing which was originally released in 2016. This game was later revised and re-released as Space Hulk: Deathwing – Enhanced Edition for PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.
