LINCOLN, Nebraska (WOWT) – The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services on Thursday listed high-risk medical conditions that will qualify 18- to 65-year-olds for a COVID-19 vaccine during Phase 1B distribution.
The listed conditions include:
- Asthma
- Cancer (currently has cancer)
- Cerebrovascular disease that affects blood vessels
- Chronic Kidney Disease
- Chronic Liver Disease
- COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
- Cystic fibrosis
- Chronic Lung Disease
- Type 1 diabetes
- Type 2 diabetes
- Down’s syndrome
- Heart problems, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathies
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- Neurological conditions (such as dementia)
- Pulmonary fibrosis
- Sickle cell disease
- Thalassemia (a type of blood disorder)
- Weakened immune system due to transplantation of solid organs (kidney, liver, pancreas, heart or lung)
- Weakened immune system due to blood or bone marrow transplantation, HIV, using steroids or other drugs
The state also announced that it will receive 21% more doses of COVID-19 vaccination this week to help boost distribution across the state. The 9,550 additional doses will bring the total expected vaccine delivery this week to 55,950, against 46,400 a week ago.
The state’s 19 local health districts are completing the first phase of the campaign, prioritizing health professionals and residents of long-term care facilities, and are working to vaccinate people aged 65 and over, as well as some essential workers.
