Nebraska has higher gas prices than the region

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) – Gas prices in Nebraska are rising daily and the state has one of the highest averages in the Midwest.

The average gas in Nebraska is now $ 2,693. The national average is a tenth of a cent, $ 2,712. In Lancaster County, it is even greater than $ 2,749. AAA has a map that divides gas prices by country, state and municipality. Experts said the increase was due to several reasons, but mainly the price of crude oil is high and the severe cold has closed refineries across the country.

“The good news is that some of these refineries are coming online again, deliveries are returning to the station,” said Nick Faustman, AAA Nebraska. “Even so, the price of crude oil has been steadily increasing throughout the calendar year.”

Experts add that the average per state also depends on state gas taxes. Gas saving tips include buying gas, comparing what certain stations are charging.
