NC, mother of 5 children, accidentally shot after children find a gun in her bag: police

A mother of five in North Carolina was accidentally shot dead after one of her children found a loaded gun in her bag, officials said.

Police responded to Gabriel Henderson’s apartment in Cornelius around 7 pm Monday, where they found her dead in a room at the back of the house, according to the Cornelius Police Department.

The police also found a small semi-automatic weapon in the bed, the police said.

They believe the children found the gun in their mother’s purse. It was not clear who fired the gun.

Henderson’s youngest son was also shot and taken to a local hospital with non-fatal injuries.
