Raleigh, NC – A newly released map of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention shows how states are delivering vaccines.
The interactive map tracks two things – the rate of people who received their first dose and the number of vaccines delivered – the number of vaccines sent.
Across the country, more than 4.5 million people received the first round of vaccinations. There are still 11 million doses distributed that have not yet been used.
Since January 4, seven states, including North Carolina, have been depicted in light blue. These are the states that vaccinated less than 1,000 people out of 100,000.
North Carolina rate – 966 people per 100,000. This is less than just five other states in the country.
West Virginia’s rate is more than three times that of North Carolina.
The rate of vaccine distribution for our state is not much better, it is still in light blue and ranked among the 10 lowest among vaccines distributed so far.
When looking at the percentage of vaccines that were distributed versus those administered, North Carolina distributed only 25.5%, not much less than the nation with 29.5%.
