Hours after President Joe Biden was inducted on Wednesday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new data on the COVID-19 vaccine, state by state, showing North Carolina’s position compared to other states.
The new CDC data describes exactly how many doses each state received and how many were administered.
In North Carolina, the state has received just over 1 million doses from the federal government since December 14. Of these, 38% of doses have already been administered.
The number compares to Georgia and Michigan, both with a population similar to that of North Carolina.

Biden said he hopes to vaccinate 100 million people in his first 100 days in office.
On Wednesday, Wake County officials told WRAL News that the county is hopeful that the new government’s plan to work more closely with states will help speed up the vaccination process.

While other county public health departments are vaccinating thousands of people every day against the new coronavirus, those numbers in Wake County are only in the hundreds. Those who made it through may still face a wait of weeks or months before their appointment, according to Johnna Sharpe, director of operations for the county.
