NBC passes on Bo and Cheyenne spinoff

Superstore NBC network is not advancing with the announced Bo and Cheyenne spin-off about the young parents and the couple played by Johnny Pemberton and Nichole Sakura. When the working comedy created by Justin Spitzer ended its sixth and final season, which saw the departure of star and executive producer America Ferrera, NBC put the Bo and Cheyenne spin-off in development with script with writers and Superstore executive co-producers Bridget Kyle and Vicky Luu. According to Deadline, which broke the news in December, the spinoff would follow the young couple as they “balanced their big dreams with the harsh reality of being a family of workers in America”.

Ahead of Superstore end of the series on Thursday, “All Sales Final”, Pemberton appeared to reveal the Bo and Cheyenne The spin-off was dead when he wrote on Instagram that the episode would be the “last appearance of his son, Bo ‘The Truth’ Thompson”. Kyle, an executive story editor and writer of Superstore since its second season in 2016, it confirmed on Friday that NBC will not move forward with the spin-off.

“Unfortunately, yesterday NBC notified us that they are not going to move forward Superstore spinoff, “said Kyle Cleveland.com. “Then, you will have to live in our hearts and on my hard drive.”

Sakura, a Superstore series regular who played Cheyenne, a salesperson who became a Cloud 9 Floor supervisor, said TheWrap this week that she was “hopeful” Bo and Cheyenne would move on with possible appearances by Cheyenne’s former co-workers.

“We are still waiting to know if this is going to happen or not, but … I started reading the pilot’s script, and it is very funny,” said Sakura in an interview published before Superstorefarewell in two parts on Thursday. “So, hopefully, we’re going to get it and bring back some of the Superstore scaled to appear and still be part of this same world. I’m just hopeful, but stay tuned. “

“All Sales Final” ended with Cheyenne and his best friend Mateo (Nico Santos), both unemployed after the closing of the Cloud 9 store, hired by former store manager Glenn (Mark McKinney) to work at his hardware store Sturgis & Sons . Superstore showrunner Gabe Miller said TheWrap that the scene was unrelated to Bo and Cheyenne, which was still in the “early stages”.

Superstore it was “one of the best experiences of my life,” wrote Pemberton, who has appeared as an aspiring rapper Bo in 16 episodes since the show’s first season on Instagram. “All [on] the show is completely incredible, on and off camera, even Ben Feldman. but I have to give a special thanks to Nichole Sakura also known as Cheyenne Tyler Lee, for being the meanest bitch in the game for 6 seasons !! “

Sakura also said goodbye to Superstore on Instagram, writing: “I’m going to miss it, but the most magical part is that I can revisit it at any time, and so can you.” All six seasons of Superstore are now broadcasting on Hulu.
