NBC News senior editor Corky Siemaszko wrote that DeSantis’ coronavirus vaccine distribution plan was “marked by chaos” and “critics say he was quick to recognize political gold in these precious doses” because the governor Republican “ignored federal guidelines and prioritized getting seniors” the coveted vaccine first.

“When Holocaust survivors and Cuban survivors of the Bay of Pigs disaster – revered members of two other major Florida constituencies – had their first shots, DeSantis made sure he was there for the press conferences,” wrote Siemaszko.

“Now the governor is accused of using the Covid-19 vaccine to reward powerful political supporters and developers by creating pop-up vaccination sites in planned communities that they have developed and where Republican voters predominate,” added Siemaszko, noting that DeSantis said his strategy focuses on Florida retirement communities.

NBC News then summoned Florida Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Charlotte County Democratic Party President Teresa Jenkins to attack DeSantis.
