On Friday, Woj reported that the Houston Rockets were securing the DeMarcus Cousins contract for the remainder of the 2020-21 NBA season.
A day later, Shams reported that Houston is surprisingly dismissing Cousins, despite the fact that he apparently did everything the Rockets could have hoped for when they hired him for a $ 2.56 million one-year contract.
Cousins has shown that he is healthy and impactful this season. He averages 9.4 points and 7.6 rebounds in 25 games. Sources expressed positive feedback about Cousins’ professionalism and pranks during his time in Houston. https://t.co/jWLQpXsrwS

But it could end up working out with the ex-Kentucky Wildcats star and beloved figure in Lexington.
While being cut is not a good thing, it can really be worth it for Cousins if he gets an NBA title contender.
According to The Ringer reporter Kevin O’Connor, the Los Angeles Lakers are among the clubs that show interest in Cousins.
Sources: The Lakers will be among the teams to chase DeMarcus Cousins.
The market will be limited for Cousins, the sources say. He has struggled this year after returning from several serious injuries. But for Los Angeles or any team that needs a lot of depth, few options have greater advantages.

On Saturday night, the Rockets are at 11-17 and four games out of a playoff spot at the Western Conference and have not been to the NBA finals since Hakeem Olajuwon’s days.
The Lakers, meanwhile, are 22-8, two games out of first place in the west, and are coming out of their 17th NBA title, as well as their eighth participation in the NBA finals since Houston’s last trip there. .
So yes, I would say that Cousins will end up a big winner if he is included in the Lakers squad. And he obviously has some chemistry built up with Anthony Davis from his days with the New Orleans Pelicans.
By the way, Davis must miss several weeks due to an Achilles injury, so LA desperately needs help on the front lines. Hiring a guy like Cousins makes sense to help fill that void now, while providing the depth needed for what hopes to be another deep run in the postseason.
But nothing is set in stone, so stay tuned for the next week, while Cousins looks for his next home in the NBA.
