NBA officials explain why the great Sixers man, Dwight Howard, was kicked out

The Philadelphia 76ers is still short of manpower in the big man right now. They are still missing Joel Embiid as he continues to recover from a bone bruise he suffered on March 12 and, due to the negotiations, they have only one real center on the list, Dwight Howard.

The 17-year-old veteran was sidelined from Thursday’s victory over the Los Angeles Lakers in the first quarter after suffering two technical fouls and drew the ire of coach Doc Rivers for doing so. He was then playing well on Saturday against the Clippers, but returned to playing with the referees in the fourth.

Howard took two quick techniques and he was released for the second game in a row. He finished with nine points and 11 rebounds in the loss to Los Angeles.

Subsequently, NBA official Tony Brothers spoke to a pool reporter about the reason for Howard’s expulsion:

He said something disparaging to the officer he was talking to about the officer who scored the first technical foul.

That was the second technical foul, but what caused the first? The brothers then added:

The first technique was called, he was called for an offensive foul. During the next inauguration, he ran all the way to the officer who called and pointed to the officer who called and shouted at him, which is why the first technical foul was called.

It is another lesson to be learned to keep a cool head when the going gets tough. The Sixers will now continue their trip on Tuesday against the Denver Nuggets at the Ball Arena.
