A dangerous day of harsh weather, including a tornado, is expected today in parts of the Mid-South and Tennessee River Valley.
POSSIBLE TORNADO HITS THE CITY OF TEXAS, DESTROYS AN OLD BUILDING
A strengthening system will peak in the late afternoon and tonight, producing strong storms containing heavy hail, damaging winds, heavy rain and several tornadoes.
Some of these twisters can be violent and long-term.
The target of the strongest storms will extend to parts of Mississippi, Alabama and Southern Tennessee.
Plan ahead in these areas to have a plan in place if and when a clock or alert is activated and have a way to get these alerts, especially at night.
This system will then rise to the Mid Atlantic and the Northeast on Friday.
It will be a weaker storm, but strong winds, heavy rains and some severe weather will be possible.
Scattered rain and snow in the mountains will move to areas across the southwest.
Wind warnings are also available for parts of California and Arizona.
The East Coast will enjoy warmer than average temperatures, with some Mid-Atlantic cities reaching almost 80 degrees.
