National Treasure TV series directed at Disney + – / Film

national treasure Disney tv series

Last year, producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed that one National treasure The TV series was underway at Disney +. Now, we have the word that it is officially happening and that Mira Nair (Queen of Katwe) is set to direct. The series will not feature the continuing adventures of Benjamin Franklin Gates of Nicolas Cage, however. Instead, the series will follow “a 20-year-old DREAMer” who embarks on an adventure to discover his mysterious family history while recovering a treasure.

The deadline broke the news that Disney + is moving ahead with a National treasure TV series. The project comes from producer Jerry Bruckheimer and original writers Marianne and Cormac Wibberley, and is described as a “reimagination of the National treasure franchise. “While the films followed treasure hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates, played by Nicolas Cage, unraveling historical mysteries, the series focuses on“ Jess Morales, a 20-year-old DREAMer who, with her diverse group of friends, leaves at adventure of a lifetime to discover its mysterious family history and recover a lost treasure. ”

Mira Nair, director of The namesake, Vanity Fair, Queen of Katwe, and more, will direct the show, which “explores the timely issues of identity, community, historical authorship and patriotism.” And you know what? This looks great, and that kind of representation is important. That said, there is a part of me that thinks it doesn’t really sound like National treasure. When I watch the first National treasure I’m looking for a really stupid adventure movie about Nic Cage running around looking for Ben Franklin’s magic glasses, while this TV shot looks more … serious? I think what I’m saying here is that while I’m happy that this show is on the way, I would love another silly movie with Cage doing his thing.

Bruckheimer revealed that this program was on the way last year and also suggested a potential new film, saying, “We’re certainly working on a [National Treasure] for streaming and we are working on one for the big screen. Hopefully, the two will come together and we will bring you another one National treasure, but both are very active … Disney + is a much younger cast. It’s the same concept, but a young cast. The theater one would be the same cast. “

Bruckheimer makes it clear that while the TV show is focused on this younger cast, any new film will bring back Nicolas Cage and company. Hopefully, this will really happen soon. I’m sure Nic “I’m going to take any film to help with my accounts” Cage will be more than happy to return.
