In Friday’s college football Rose Bowl semifinal between No. 1 Alabama and No. 4 Notre Dame at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Harris did just that, jumping over an Irish Fighting defender during a 53-game win. yards in the first quarter.
The reason for Rapinoe’s request? Harris said at a Rose Bowl press conference on Tuesday that he admired the football star.
Harris is known for celebrating after scoring a touchdown with his arms outstretched, like the celebration of Rapinoe’s goal at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
Here’s what Harris had to say about Rapinoe when he was speaking to reporters this week:
“Megan goes crazy,” said Harris. “She is from California, first of all, and listens to Nipsey. Nipsey Hussle, one of my favorite rappers too. She shouted at him.
“Really all the things that she stands for. She is a feminist and like women, how women in the world are treated unfairly and how they are paid differently and differently from men.
“She defends all of this. I like how she does it. And obviously, the social injustice that happens, she plays a role in all of this. And for her to be a woman and say all these things, it can be scary for her, because she is a woman in what they say is a masculine world, and she just playing a role, standing up, not listening to all the pessimists out there and really just defending what she believes in, is motivating.
“I, as a man, think you could say, as if maybe not many men would like to say that they admire a woman today. But I really admire her, just for what she does outside of sports. And I think I had to give her a shout and stuff. “
