Murrells Inlet’s Logan Tomovski took first place in up to 14-year-old tennis in South Carolina | Myrtle Beach area news

MURRELLS INLET – Don’t look now, but you can see this 14 year old boy play at Wimbledon one day.

Logan Tomovski of Murrells Inlet was named the No. 1 tennis player in the state of South Carolina for classification up to 14 years, No. 8 in the South and No. 79 in the country.

“I worked hard and worked hard on tennis, so it’s good to see what good things came of it,” said Tomovski.

Year-end rankings are based on the first seven results of a single player’s tournament.

Tomovski won tournaments in Charleston and Florence, and has a big tournament in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Tomovski has been playing tennis since he was 3 years old.

“I decided to use the racket because my dad used to play,” said Tomovski. “He used to play on the Satellite Tour, so he taught me.”

Tomovski, a 9th grader at Connections Academy and plays tennis at Waccamaw High School, also has a 16-year-old brother, Bradeon, who is on the team.

Tomovski likes to be able to play tennis with his family and even watch tennis tournaments on the subway.

“It’s fun,” said Tomovski. “Too many people to beat. We all like to watch tennis on TV, so we can all talk about it and stuff, and it’s really fun to have people who also love tennis. “

Tomovski’s favorite tennis player is Serbian Novak Djokovic, currently ranked number 1 in the world.

Tomovski’s parents had a great influence on him from a very young age, from his mother decorating his room to his father, transmitting his love for the game.

“My wife drew on the walls of her rooms, like a kind of art, like a lion with a tennis ball (and) a giraffe with a tennis ball,” said Tomovski’s father, Alex Tomovski. “We had little tennis rackets in their cribs. It really started with me … It was just my passion and then I passed it on to my children and they loved it, thank God. “

Alex has high hopes for Logan’s tennis career and thinks that the way Logan plays the game can result in success at college and even at the professional level.

“He can do anything; that’s the kind of game he plays, ”said Alex. “He can attack, he can defend, he covers the court like a blanket. And as his coach always says, he is mentally strong. He showed that, at the age of nine, he is mentally strong and then became even more difficult, where he simply does not panic. You will have to beat him; he doesn’t distribute matches ”.

Alex is happy that Logan’s brother was able to challenge him to improve. Logan is able to accompany not only Bradeon, but also Braedon’s friends.

“I think having a brother two years older makes a big difference, as it probably is with many athletes,” said Alex. “Whether it’s Peyton Manning and Eli Manning … when you have someone you’re keeping in touch with, trying to get out, they’ll only make you better.”

Logan started playing with David Bromberg at the Waccamaw Regional Tennis Center when he was just seven.

Bromberg is happy with Logan’s prestigious ranking, but is also focused on the future.

“It feels good and we are proud of it,” Bromberg. “It really takes a village, not an individual, to make someone a good player. Even though it is a great compliment and makes me feel good, it is only a small bump on the way too. He is number 1 in the 14s; I am more interested in what he will be when he is 18 years old. “

Bromberg enjoyed training Logan as far as he is today and reinforced what his father said about his mental stamina.

He also admires Logan’s intelligence and work ethic, but is also happy to be able to have fun playing the game too.

“It was fun to train him because, since Day 1, he was a talented young man,” said Bromberg. “Many children manage to hit the ball, (but) one of the reasons he was a little more successful than the others is that he is very mentally tough in training and matches and I think that is what separates him from some of the other guys. “
