MTA worker suspended after shouting that he is sick to join the Capitol riot

A Metro-North worker said he was ill to be part of the crowd that invaded the United States Capitol – and he was suspended amid an FBI investigation into his role, the Post found.

Will Pepe, a Metro-North Brewster rail yard worker, is being investigated for participating in the mob that briefly interrupted Congress while certifying the election of President-elect Joe Biden, the MTA confirmed.

Pepe, 31, of Beacon, NY, said he was ill on Wednesday to attend the event, an MTA source said. He was suspended without pay while the agency tries to fire him.

“With immediate effect, this individual has been suspended from Metro-North without pay and will be disciplined according to his collective bargaining agreement pending an investigation,” said MTA spokesman Ken Lovett in a statement.

“This alleged conduct is disgusting and runs counter to the values ​​of Metro-North, New York and the nation.”
