MSNBC Joe Scarborough: club tent destroyed last summer and not on the same level as the Capitol riot

MSNBC presenter Joe Scarborough gave a strange speech on Tuesday, accusing his critics of equating city riots across America last year with the deadly Capitol riot on January 6, even saying he would not confuse a “club position with the United States Capitol.”

“I know there are idiots on other cable news channels who will say, ‘Well, this family store was vandalized during the summer riots, and this is just as bad as the United States Capitol being vandalized.’ No, idiot, it isn’t, “Scarborough said in” Morning Joe “, while co-host Mika Brzezinski laughed uncomfortably.

“The United States Capitol is the center of American democracy. And while I’m a fierce believer in people’s right to defend their private property, I’m not going to confuse a taco shack with the United States Capitol. I am not going to confuse the sale of clubs with actually going through a constitutional process that is provided for in the United States Constitution for members of the House and Senate to actually fulfill their constitutional duties. No. No. No. Property damage is not the same insurrection. “

MEGHAN MCCAIN: THE MEDIA THINKS IT CAN ONLY BE A GOOD REPUBLICAN IS BECOMING A DEMOCRAT

After the Daily Caller posted the clip on Tuesday, Scarborough commented on the post, tweeting, “You are too stupid to understand that the destruction of personal property is abhorrent and, at the same time, to realize that a terrorist attack on the Capitol of the United States is the greatest threat to America? “

Scarborough then tried to avoid further criticism, saying that he was opposed to all political violence.

“Not an idiot,” Scarborough wrote after The Daily Caller sent him a video of a man from Kenosha, Wisconsin, whose furniture store was set on fire. “It was a furniture store. And the freaks who set it on fire should rot in prison until they pay it back.”

Racially charged riots marked the city’s landscapes throughout 2020, as the country staggered with the economic devastation of the coronavirus pandemic and calls to address racial injustices and police brutality. A report last year estimated that the violence would cost more than $ 1 billion in insurance claims, and at least 25 deaths were related to civic unrest.

BROOKE BALDWIN ANNOUNCES LEAVING CNN, SAYS THAT HE DOES NOT HAVE A JOB IN LINE: ‘FEELING VERY, VERY VULNERABLE’

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden condemned last year’s violence, but candidate Kamala Harris promoted a fund to rescue protesters, and some Democrats and media members defended or justified the disturbances to some degree in the past year.

The Capitol rebellion, which is linked to at least five deaths, has received bipartisan condemnation and calls for quick justice against those who violated the building and committed any acts of violence.

Former President Donald Trump was accused of inciting violence due to his rhetoric that led to the attack, which included his repeated and false claims that he really won the 2020 elections. All but 10 House Republicans voted against impeachment, and all but seven Senate Republicans voted to condemn him, although this made the impeachment conviction vote the most bipartisan in history.

Scarborough is a former Republican Party congressman who left the party in 2017 as opposed to Trump, although he provided friendly coverage of the Trump campaign during much of the 2016 primary process.
