MSI gives us the first look of its next Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming X Trio graphics card

The latest iteration of MSI’s iconic GAMING series once again brings performance, low noise efficiency and aesthetics that hardcore players have come to recognize and trust. Now you can also enjoy all your favorite games with a powerful video card that remains cool and silent. The way you like it.

MSI incorporated and refined some things in the new design of Tri-Frozr for Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming X Trio graphics cards. The first is the TORX 4.0 fan, which uses a ring design that connects two fan blades together to increase airflow towards the internal heat sink assembly. These fans are comprised of a double ball bearing design that ensures quiet functionality under heavy loads.

The fans of the MSI Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming X Trio are fully compatible with Zero Frozr Technology and, in fact, are composed of three areas. All of this would remain at 0 RPM (idle state) if temperatures did not exceed 60C. When it exceeds 60C, all fans start to spin. You can change this through the MSI configuration panel if you want more cooling performance over the noise load, but it’s a nice feature that I like.

In addition to the cooling fans, the heatsink was designed to be more dense, using the new 2.0 wave curved fin design. The new heatsink makes use of deflectors to allow more air to pass through the fins smoothly, without causing turbulence that would result in unwanted noise. MSI estimates a 2 degree (C) drop in temperatures with the updated design compared to the previous generation cooling system.

Talking about the heatsink, the massive block on the MSI Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming X Trio is made up of seven copper square shaped heat tubes with a more concentrated design to transfer heat from the copper base to the heatsink of most effectively. The base itself is a solid nickel plated base plate, transferring heat to the heat pipes in a very effective way. On top of that, MSI uses its exclusive Thermal Compound X, which offers higher thermal interface and heat transfer compared to traditional TIM applications.

MSI has also confirmed the Radeon RX 6900 XT Gaming X Trio graphics card, but they have not given a tentative release date for this yet, but due to supply issues, we expect it to be around the first quarter of 2021. MSI does not gave no word on the prices of the custom graphics cards Radeon RX 6800 XT and RX 6800 Gaming X Trio, but the video card is coming to retail soon and we will also receive the card in the next few days for our own review, so stay tuned for a more detailed view of this variant.
