Mister Perfect is a new NBC sitcom about a businessman running for mayor in Los Angeles – the main role of Neil Bremmer is played by The good place star Ted Danson.
The show comes from Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, the main force behind 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Originally, the series was supposed to be a spin-off of 30 Rock that would lead Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) to run for mayor of New York – but the show changed direction when Baldwin left the project.
With that in mind, early analysis suggested that Mister Perfect it is not as popular as it could have been, with many reviewers feeling disappointed.

“Pale, worn, predictable, Mister Perfect looks like a misfire in the first few episodes, “was Newsday’s description.
Rolling Stone mentioned that: “It is quite material, but Danson is so willing to look ridiculous, and a physical comedian so precise that he is funny, despite the familiarity.”
While TVLine wrote: “The whole enterprise seems half-hearted and half-baked, with a fragile concept and a glaring lack of laughter … The only saving grace is the knowledge that everyone involved will go for more valuable projects. The sooner this one term ends, the better. “

Elsewhere, Mike Hale of the New York Times was disappointed with the show after seeing a strong lineup for the cast and production talent.
“So far, the program is full of lines that pretend to be funny, in a way adjacent to the joke, but they don’t go very well – they have the form of humor, but not the strength,” he said.
Mister Perfect will air on January 7 on NBC in the USA.
