Mother of ‘riot duo’ now accused of conspiracy in Capitol siege

The mother of a Tennessee man accused of carrying a zip-tie inside the US Capitol was accused of conspiring with his son during the violent siege.

The FBI arrested Lisa Eisenhart, 56, in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday on charges of conspiracy, illegal entry into a restricted building and violent entry or disorderly conduct for allegedly breaking into the Capitol on January 6, according to a criminal complaint.

Her son Eric Munchel – who was photographed holding zippers and wearing paramilitary clothing inside the Capitol – was arrested on similar charges on January 10.

The US Attorney’s Office for the Central District of Tennessee announced his mother’s arrest on Twitter, next to a photo of the mother and son duo showing Eisenhart wearing a red “Make America Great Again” cap and a black tactical vest. Munchel can be seen all dressed in black.

The complaint alleges that Eisenhart also carried “flexible handcuffs” or “plastic restraints” – as did his son – while she and Munchel joined a crowd of protesters who were chasing two police officers.

“Video footage from inside the US Capitol captures Eisenhart and Munchel in the vicinity of a crowd of individuals who are physically attacking two Capitol Police officers who were guarding the entrance to Senate chambers,” says the legal process.

“The footage finally shows police officers passing through Eisenhart and Munchel and several members of the mafia are chasing them. As soon as they pass, Eisenhart and Munchel immediately follow the individuals who are chasing the officers, ”he says.

“Munchel and Eisenhart are seen holding flexible handcuffs in each hand during the chase,” says the complaint.

On Thursday, FBI director Christopher Wray said more than 100 people were arrested in the Capitol attack that killed five people, and more than 200 suspects were identified.
