Mother and 3 children died when several car accidents ended in flames near spring

SPRING, Texas (KTRK) – A family of four died when a multi-vehicle accident ended in flames in northwest Harris County, according to Harris County Police District 4.

A 7-month-old, 2-year-old, 5-year-old child and his mother were killed on FM 2920 near Gosling Road at about 8:50 pm on Sunday, according to the Spring Fire Department.

Their car caught fire after being hit in the back in a chain reaction accident involving seven to nine cars.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, officers immediately performed CPR on at least one of the injured children. Lieutenant Michael Cohen said the child was taken to a hospital in The Woodlands by Life Flight.

The baby and mother died instantly, and the other two children died in the hospital.

“Two of the children were transported by Life Flight to the Herman Memorial at the medical center,” said Cohen. “The two children transported have already passed away.”

Cohen also said that a man from another vehicle was rushed to the hospital by EMS.

Police were analyzing a witness’s video showing a vehicle that may be speeding and caused the accident.
