Most COVID-19 deaths could have been prevented: Dr. Deborah Birx

Most of the country’s COVID-19 deaths could have been prevented, says Dr. Deborah Birx in a new documentary.

Birx, who headed the coronavirus task force under former President Trump, said that of the approximately 100,000 deaths caused by the initial virus outbreak, “we have an excuse.”

“Everyone else in my mind could have been mitigated or substantially diminished,” he says in a clip of the documentary posted on CNN’s website. The documentary will air on Sunday.

States and cities need to act more aggressively and learn the lessons of the first increase to reduce cases last spring, she said.

The film, “COVID WAR: The Pandemic Doctors Speak Out”, also includes an interview with Dr. Anthony Fauci.
