Morgan Wallen’s sister defends country music star, blames culture of cancellation amid racial slander scandal

Morgan Wallen’s sister is coming to the defense of the country music star days after the singer was caught wearing a racial slur.

In a long post of seven slides on Instagram, Ashlyne Wallen expressed that she thinks canceling the culture is “getting out of control”.

His post was published shortly after a video of the bell obtained by TMZ showed Wallen using the N word for his friends after a night out last week. Wallen has since been released from his talent agency WME and had his music removed from iHeartRadio.

“‘There are only 3 things you should do about a mistake: admit it, learn from it and don’t repeat it’,” began Wallen’s sister’s post. “Canceling culture is the worst thing that has come out of our digital world. It leaves no room for forgiveness and growth, in turn, leaving no opportunity for individuals who have made mistakes to learn from them.”

“If you make a mistake or do something stupid, apologize, correct the mistake and learn through personal growth,” she continued. “While our digital world connects use in a wonderful way, it also does the opposite. It provides a platform for spewing hate at others. It’s easy to say something behind the security of a screen – anyone can do that. the comments are people too. “

Although Wallen’s sister wrote that she thinks the use of the N-word was “unacceptable”, she also expressed that she thinks he did it without hate or malicious intent, and that he should be a chance to win forgiveness.

She made a point of adding that some criticisms her brother received were “positive and educational”, while noting that a country star is struggling to change. However, she disagrees with people who are supposed to be using social media for negative purposes.

Wallen appears not to have shared any posts on social media since the scandal went public.

“I am ashamed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slander that I would like to be able to remove,” the 27-year-old singer told TMZ last week. “There is no excuse for using that kind of language, ever. I sincerely want to apologize for using that word. I promise to do better.”

Although some country music stars have publicly criticized Wallen, two industry insiders praised Wallen’s sister for her role.

“little sister, this is beautiful,” commented artist Benny Burgess, who worked on a song with Wallen. “sending you all the love.”
