More than two-thirds of Americans approve of the response to Biden’s coronavirus: research

More than two-thirds of Americans approve President Biden’s response to the coronavirus pandemic days after his inauguration, according to one research launched on Sunday.

The ABC News / Ipsos poll found that 69 percent of respondents approved Biden’s treatment of the pandemic in his early days as president, unlike the previous President TrumpDonald TrumpNYT: Deputy Perry played a role in Trump’s alleged plan to expel AG Arizona GOP censors leading state Republicans McCain, Flake and Ducey Biden and the UK Prime Minister discuss NATO, multilateralism during call MOREMost underwater classifications on the same problem

The president’s approval includes 40% of Republicans, 97% of Democrats and 70% of independents. The highest percentage of support that Trump obtained came from 55% of Americans in mid-March last year, including 30% of Democrats.

Specifically, the government received 81 percent approval for an executive order signed on Induction Day requiring masks and social distance from federal buildings and federal land.

The majority of Republicans with 59% supported the measure, as did the overwhelming majority of Democrats and independents, with 99% and 83%, respectively.

Biden’s overall approval for the power transition was 67 percent, reviving the tradition of presidents getting high marks in their first few months in office before approval numbers dropped. His predecessor broke that trend after 40% approved how Trump handled the transition.

Republicans showed less support for Biden’s initial actions to end the travel ban on Muslims, prevent a national emergency declaration on the southern border and return to the World Health Organization and the Paris climate agreement.

The majority of respondents with 57% expressed confidence in Biden’s ability to unify the nation and 22% said they had great confidence in the goals he expressed during his inaugural speech.

Nearly a quarter of Americans said they were deeply skeptical about the president’s ability to unite the country.

The ABC News / Ipsos survey interviewed 504 adults, in English and Spanish, between January 22nd and 23rd, two or three days after the inauguration day. The margin of error is 5 percentage points.

The Biden government has proposed a $ 1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package, but Republican lawmakers have criticized the move as too expensive.
