However, leaked images posted on Facebook Gaming (watch the link) and YouTube this weekend revealed the first concrete details of the game on Parasite.

Parasite appears to feature many of the Siege Operators, each with Speed and Armor ratings, as well as special abilities, such as the ability to deploy decoy holograms, detect all moving enemies in the area, or deploy a mounted LMG.

Players embark on PvE raids against alien opponents and must complete various objectives, such as gathering information, to progress. Teams can decide to progress through increasingly difficult areas of the map, with the chance of extra rewards, or extract at certain points with their loot.

Operators who do not reach the extraction point are considered ‘MIA’ and will not be available until they are rescued in a future foray.

The shooting mechanics are similar to Siege, and players can even reinforce some walls to slow down oncoming enemies – or destroy them for surprise attacks.

The main enemies of the CPU in Parasite at the Archaeans, which come in various types with their own behaviors and abilities. Archaeans will attack and call for reinforcements if you are spotted, so stealthy felling is encouraged.

Alien-looking nests are located around the map, and alerted enemies can awaken them to generate more enemies, which they will do until they are destroyed.

In October 2020, Ubisoft delayed the launch of Rainbow Six Parasite for the first half of its fiscal year, starting in April 2021, “due to homework-related production challenges” because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking of the publisher’s third-quarter earnings call in February, Ubisoft’s chief financial officer, Frédérick Duguet, said the plan was still to launch the game until September 30, 2021.

During the question and answer session of the call, Ubisoft was asked if it had any public relations concerns about launching a game about an alien parasite in the middle of a global pandemic and whether it could consider deferring the title again.
