More than 70 revelers face Covid Fines after the London boat party

More than 70 people are facing coronavirus fines after police caught a boat in Ealing, London, being detained in defiance of the strict anti-coronavirus blockade.

The Metropolitan Police were “called to Volt Avenue, North Acton, shortly after 11 pm on Saturday, January 30, with reports of a large meeting on a moored boat,” according to a police newsletter, discovering a party that attended by more than 70 people.

“The group was dispersed and a total of 72 people were reported for considering £ 800 fixed penalty notifications for attending an internal meeting of more than 15 people in violation of Coronavirus regulations,” the force reported, adding that the the alleged party the organizer was identified and denounced by a fixed fine notification of up to £ 10,000.

“This was a flagrant violation of the coronavirus rules that are in place to save lives and protect the enormous pressure on the NHS,” complained Detective Chief Inspector Thomas Bowen of the Metropolitan Police’s western area team.

“All the people who attended this event, which appears to have been organized on social media, were correctly reported for the consideration of fines,” added DCI Bowen.

“The Met will continue to close and disperse events like this, which could spread a virus that has already claimed the lives of more than 100,000 people in this country.”
