More than 50 percent of Americans approve of Biden’s performance during his first month in office

President Joe Biden has been in office for an entire month, and recent polls have shown that more than 50% of Americans so far view his job performance favorably.

Biden transitioned to the White House last month with the support of more than two-thirds of Americans, and his early days saw approval ratings of up to 63 percent – a number higher than any index for former President Donald Trump during your mandate.

Now, with 30 days in office, Biden continues to have the support of more than half of the Americans, although his approval tends to fall strongly in the party lines.

According to the FiveThirtyEight survey tracker, 54.4% of Americans approve of Biden’s presidency a month later, while 38.1% disapprove. According to the data, that number has remained relatively consistent since Biden’s first week in office, when he had 53% approval.

Likewise, a recent Ipsos survey conducted on February 17 and 18, found that 56% of Americans approve of Biden’s performance. However, that poll fell widely among party lines, with 90% of Democrats viewing the president favorably, while only 20% of Republicans approved the president’s actions so far.

And in one of the highest ratings the president has yet to receive, 62% of registered voters approved Biden in a Morning Consult / Politico poll from February 14-15.

“It seems that Americans are looking at what’s going on in the Biden White House after four years under the Trump administration, and are saying ‘this is something we can do'” PoliticalEugene Daniels of the company told MSNBC about the survey.

According to the daily Rasmussen Reports survey, Biden has maintained a consistent approval rating of between 48 and 53 percent since taking office.

During his first weeks as president, Biden moved forward with a series of executive actions to reverse the Trump administration’s orders and focus on issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change and racial equality.

Although his ratings remained high in his first month compared to Trump, Biden’s approval in the coming months will likely depend on how he fares in terms of treating the coronavirus pandemic.

So far, almost 59% of Americans approve of their actions related to COVID-19, according to a FiveThirtyEight tracker updated on Friday.

But, once again, those numbers have largely fallen on party lines, with 90% of Democrats supporting the president’s efforts, while 53.6% of independents and only 24% of Republicans showing support.

Congress is now in the process of trying to approve Biden’s $ 1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package. Democratic lawmakers have indicated that they are prepared to pass the bill, called the American Rescue Plan, without Republican support in the coming weeks.

If approved, the bill will provide $ 1,400 stimulus checks to eligible Americans, as well as extended unemployment benefits, business aid and food and rent assistance.

“I see enormous pain in this country. Many people are unemployed. A lot of people are starving, looking at the ceiling at night wondering, ‘What am I going to do tomorrow?’ That’s why I’m asking Congress to approve the American Rescue Plan and deliver the much needed relief, “tweeted Biden on February 12.

Newsweek contacted the White House for further comments, but received no response in time for publication.
