Louisiana will receive more doses of the coronavirus vaccine than ever in the next week, according to a spokesman for the governor.
UPDATE: COVID vaccines will be available to all Louisianans aged 16 and over next week
Christina Stephens, spokesman for Governor John Bel Edwards, shared the news on Twitter early Wednesday morning.
Edwards is giving a press conference at 2:30 pm to address the latest news on COVID vaccines and the ongoing response to the pandemic.

The White House COVID-19 response team shared in a tweet on Wednesday morning that 27 million doses of vaccine will be distributed this week.
“This means that in just 62 days, we have more than tripled vaccine production – from 8.6 million doses to 27 million doses a week,” the tweet said.

Edwards participated in an early phone call about dose expansion, Stephens confirmed.
“This is very good news – Louisiana will see more doses than ever in the next week,” tweeted Stephens.
