More bad recruitment news for Duke

Selection Sunday is finally here when college basketball 2020-21 starts to slow down. While the UNC basketball program awaits their classification in the NCAA tournament, things are looking up for them a month after the team is in the bubble.

Last season was not very good for the Tar Heels, as they had their fair share of fights and found themselves in the bubble just a month ago. But it could be worse.

UNC’s blue-blooded rival on the road in Durham, Duke, had his fights this year and is unlikely to make it to the NCAA Tournament. Although Duke fought and ended the year with just over 0.500, things are also going very well on the recruiting trail.

His main recruiting target, Patrick Baldwin, seems destined to end up in Milwaukee to play for his father, probably turning down both the Blue Devils and Tar Heels. Last week, his chances of having another great recruit on his board declined.

Five-star guard Trevor Keels is one of the best uncompromised recruits in the 2021 class and is considering Duke, Villanova and Kentucky. Although Keels was once considered a weakness for Duke, those chances seem to be diminishing.

Villanova obtained three Crystal Ball predictions for Keels and all three came from Duke insiders in 247 Sports. They currently maintain three of the four predictions, with only Eric Bossi choosing Duke in February.

The 1.80 m and 210 pound Keels are ranked No. 20 overall, No. 3 in their position and player No. 1 in the state of Virginia in the 247 sports recruitment ranking. He was already considering Tar Heels, but he eliminated them from the race in 2020.

This is an interesting development, as Duke got off to a great start with his recruiting class, welcoming Paolo Banchero and AJ Griffin, who are among the top 10 players. Many believed they would add at least five more matches, but that could be at risk.

Hey, you won’t see any UNC fans complain.
