Here is an overview of the game, via Capcom:

Monster Hunter Rise it’s a new Monster hunter title for Nintendo Switch. The game was developed with Capcom’s proprietary RE ENGINE in order to provide a new and affordable Monster hunter experience that can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere and with anyone. In addition to new monsters and locations, the game offers a completely new take on the hunting experience through a series of new and exciting hunting actions made possible with Wirebug. With that, players can traverse rocky cliffs through the Wall Run, fly over rugged terrain and through the air at high speed, or even trap monsters and control them. To add to the excitement is the debut of new “canyne” hunting partners called Palamutes, which hunters can assemble to quickly navigate maps. The title was critically acclaimed after the release of two demos featuring local and online cooperative play before launch, with resulting shipments exceeding five million units a week since launch.
