Molson Coors says cyber attack affected beer brewing operations

Molson Coors Beverage Co. said on Thursday that it was hit by a cyber attack that disrupted its brewing and shipping operations.

In a regulatory process, the Chicago-based company said it hired experts in forensic information technology and legal advice to help it investigate the incident.

“The company is continually working to restore its systems as quickly as possible,” said Molson Coors in his process.

Molson Coors did not say how many facilities were affected. The company operates seven breweries and packaging plants in the United States, three in Canada and ten in Europe.

In addition to their namesake beers, their brands include Miller Lite, Pilsner Urquell and Blue Moon.

Molson Coors also did not say whether the cyber attack was related to a global server hack running Microsoft Exchange email software. This breach affected small businesses, law firms, city halls and manufacturers.

It is not the first time that a major beverage manufacturer has been the target of a cyber attack.
